Below is a link to the Catholic By Choice forum. The link has a very well balanced discussion on Sola Scriptures between Catholic and Protestant. It references key discussions on the subject.
Hope everyone sees the scriptural wisdom in the discussion.

Thanks for the Link
Just for the record this forum is not an anti-Catholic forum. All posts that are made here regarding the topic of Catholics and Protestants need to be thoughtful and edifying to the building up and establishing of one another in Christ Jesus.

I know that some have a real Catholic vs. Protestant mentality or visa versa. Lets not engage in our differences without keeping in mind our many common confessions.

I think that this is an exciting topic and I myself have much material to present on this topic of just what is a Christian and what is the Church. Im sure we Christians can learn from one another and each grow in the Love of Jesus.

God Bless You,
David

*Note I just made a second quick visit to the link posted above.
I found the scripture Matthew 11:11 misquoted and then further in the same post found it to be again misquoted in a second reference.

It looks like the main topic of the posting is Sola Scripture which is a discipline of using the Bible to define and explain the Bible. For instance if you want to understand the verse Hebrews 1:2 then you would look at other Bible verses like Genesis 1:1, as opposed to looking to people, traditions or prophets for an explanation.

This is a noble discipline but if the verses are misquoted then Sola Scripture is sort of out the window.

Just a buyer beware warning but then we should always be cautious including while visiting this forum.

David,
Thanks for your welcome. I agree with you I greatly like to discuss subjects with the Catholics and see them as brothers in Christ. The link is a good Catholic/Protestant relationship forum and I very much enjoy discussing subjects with my brother Catholics. I am a Catholic (with many understandings of Protestants)and see a wonderfull understanding from many Catholics about bible studying with Protestant views. I hope, in the near future, we will all become close to one with our understandings.
Yours in Christ

David,
Yes the author should have said Mathew 11:11,12 and his statemenat would have been true.

Mathew 11:11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

Thanks for the knowledge
Kenneth

Hi KENNETH - i remember some months ago - you and your friend were quite involved at the Alive in Him Christian Forum regarding your Roman Catholic beliefs. As I had been 'born and raised' in Catholicism ...and was gloriously saved by the Lord OUT OF IT - PRAISE GOD!!! I was one of at least 3 of us - Christine, Teri included ...that went "round and round" with you and the false Roman Catholic doctrine that you propagate as the 'truth'. It was unfortunate that after much prayer(by all of us there) and much posting of God's Word to you that at the end of that time you REFUSED THE WORD OF GOD AS YOUR SOLE AND ONLY AUTHORITY for salvation.
I think that David and others here on this forum should know that you seek to come to true Christian forums and teach Roman Catholic doctrine... which can bring confusion and frustration to young growing new Biblical believers.

Hello Wendy,
I was not the person you are refering to. Please list the post and I will review. In Short, I was born a Catholic and in the 5 th grade I realized the error teaching by the Catholic Church and stoped listening to the Catholic teaching. Satan attacked me until age 30. I was going to commit suicide because of attacks fron satan. God spoke to me and I turned my life over to God and was born again. I have been following the Protestant teaching after. I know you are speaking about someone else. The link shows the Protestant scripture thinking and post 140 to 170 shows the error of the infability of the Pope. Post 170 -173 is a finsl scriptural rebuff of the main Catholic ideas of the Pope. The post is one of the greatest Protestant discussion with the Catholics I have ever seen. The Catholics are very nice in the post and I see them as wanting to follow scriptures also. Pray with me that the Catholic laymen will see the truth and show their leaders they want the scriptural truth and not man made teaching.
Yours in Christ
Kenneth

Kenneth - ?????? ok - the other one has R after his name - but not the "2"... so please accept my sincerest apologies.
over 20 years ago when I was born again I think I really believed if I went back to the priests, and people at the Catholic parish i was in that "all I would have to do was show them the Scriptures, and they would 'surely' see?" .... and I learned many hard lessons.

Yes... there is always one here or there - a person who is open, and will hear... I pray that the Lord will lead you to these people. But most of all I PRAY FOR YOU: "THAT CHRIST MAY DWELL IN YOUR HEART BY FAITH; THAT YE, BEING ROOTED AND GROUNDED IN LOVE MAY BE ABLE TO COMPREHEND WITH ALL SAINTS WHAT IS THE BREADTH, AND LENGTH, AND DEPTH, AND HEIGHT; AND TO KNOW THE LOVE OF CHRIST, WHICH PASSETH KNOWLEDGE, THAT YE MIGHT BE FILLED WITH ALL THE FULNESS OF GOD." (Eph.3:17-18).

In my case the Lord led me to these verses when I tried to 'align' myself *somehow* with some Catholic friends whom I was inwardly afraid of 'offending' with Biblical truth...

"...BE YE NOT UNEQUALLY YOKED TOGETHER WITH UNBELIEVERS: FOR WHAT FELLOWSHIP HATH RIGHTEOUSNESS WITH UNRIGHTEOUSNESS? AND WHAT COMMUNION HATH LIGHT WITH DARKNESS? AND WHAT CONCORD HATH CHRIST WITH BELIAL? OR WHAT PART HATH HE THAT BELIEVETH WITH AN INFIDEL? AND WHAT AGREEMENT HATH THE TEMPLE OF GOD WITH IDOLS? FOR YE ARE THE TEMPLE OF THE LIVING GOD; AS GOD HATH SAID, I WILL DWELL IN THEM, AND WALK IN THEM; AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE.

WHEREFORE COME OUT FROM AMONG THEM, AND BE YE SEPARATE, SAITH THE LORD, AND TOUCH NOT THE UNCLEAN THING; AND I WILL RECEIVE YOU, AND WILL BE A FATHER UNTO YOU, AND YE SHALL BE MY SONS AND DAUGHTERS, SAITH THE LORD ALMIGHTY" (2Cor.6:14-18).

After I was away from my family and those in the parish I was able to study God's Word and see CLEARLY the truth... sometime later I re-established relationships - but in a 'whole new vein', not dependent upon them ~ but dependent upon Christ alone.

in Him
wendy

Hi Wendy,
I apologize. The forum manager sent me a note on my address to you. I wanted to say Hello and I like a dummy did not check my address to you and I left the "o" out. I corrected my error and I sincerely apoligize again.
I will only use Hi on all my future post to prevent this from ever happening again. Hope you understand, it was only a typing error.
